Metropolis Bookshop: what do users think?

Heidi Steel: Amazing service!!! I did an online order for my brother for his birthday. I live overseas. Kate took off the price labels, and gift wrapped the books. Order was dispatched the following morning. I cannot recommend them enough, great choice of books as well!! My new go to book store. Thank you very much.

bridie: the coolest bookshop ever!! super cool vibe with amazing book selection, very esoteric and exactly what i was looking for. i also last minute ordered a few books online for my philosophy group and they came so quickly!! the staff are so lovely too. i really can’t overstate how cool this bookshop is!!

Tim Stew: sometimes I feel a bit insecure about how I don't have enough money to buy all the very expensive, great books that Metropolis sells however, there is a great bargain bin where you can cop books on Art literature, cinema, and other esoteric interests for quite a good price, I found a copy of both Kim, Fowley and Lydia lunch biographies

Amy: Best selection of books of any bookshop in Melbourne. Pricey but worth every dollar.

Max Bellè: Met MIRKA MORA for the first time, at the Acland St store way back in the day. Which changed and inspired my life in ways to immense to explain here!!Is an absolute must when in Melbourne!Limitless love & appreciation to the entire Metropolis team over their many years of buisness xXx Bellè xXx

Billy Wang: Super helpful lady at the cashier trying to help find the best gift idea on architecture books

Leo Barry: What a wonderful store, I am not really a book person but I came here to find a unique book as a gift - which they had in stock. Complimentary gift wrapping as well made my day, a lot better than my gift wrapping skills that's for sure! Quick and simple transaction, I know where to go if I ever need to find a special book again

sjw998: has changed. They still have an amazing array of books. 5 stars!Hidden from street-view, at the top of an old and graffiti ridden staircase is the most wonderful bookshop you will find in Melbourne! They carry tomes that are otherwise impossible to attain on-line

Phillip Gwynne: If there's a cooler bookshop than this in Australia, I haven't been in it!

Amanda Morgan: Too tempting to spend $$$

City Basement Books: what do users think?

jabakes78: Excellent bookshop with extensive range of fiction and non-fiction at incredibly low prices. Great place to browse your favourite authors. Returned to Melbourne after 15 years and this seems to be the last great secondhand bookshop still standing. New ones have sprung up but this place has the biggest stock and broadest range. Might have moved location to Flinders Street, but still the same yellow signs. Highly recommend.

Jess Tran: Super cute, lots of older books and some new.

Fahad: Such a unique hidden bookstore, definitely recommend stopping by

Steve Byrne: Nice collection! Friendly, helpful staff.

Chris Hazzard: I ordered a book from Basement Books through Abe because I am also in Melbourne, and I like to shop locally when I can. They were incredibly prompt and the book was professionally packed.I am delighted.

Justin Louis Labelle: Just the way you like it. Organized but not too much, expansive but not expensive.

Kyle Schuant: Old school second-hand place, books piled haphazardly allowing for hours of unproductive exploration.

Dennis Rollings: Thanks so much

Peter: City basement books MelbourneI have walked pasted this place a number of times over the years. It was only that I looked up and saw the small sign that I went in, and I’m glad I did.Great place books from floor to ceiling and they have every category possible. The friendly staff member told me they get new stock twice a week, I’ll be calling in again every time I’m in Melbournefantastic second hand book storeI highly recommend

Have a swing: Now this is a cool spot. So many gems and the prices are ridiculously cheap. Didn’t know it existed for the longest time but now I will refuse to walk by it without visiting. Brilliant selection. Highly recommend.

Trudie McCarthy: Good selection of old books and newer. Fun to explore. Art books are reasonably priced.

gary dyer: City basement books a treasure trove of great finds. one of the best bookstores in Melbourne city.

The kind person behind the counter engaged in a friendly chat whilst I expressed my gratitude for this book being available. The store itself is beautiful, light filled, open, with a great selection of books. If you are ever in Melbourne be open to the possibility of dropping into this beautiful store!

Ryan Rodrigues: Great little book store located in North Melbourne. Fantastic selection of books, easily something for everyone!

Y Grant: It's a great little book store, there is a nice range of books that are different to your main stream stores...The children's book section is particularly wonderful, with lots of beautiful books that iv never seen before, they were all reasonably priced and so I bought far to much 😀I walked there from RCH , it was a nice easy walk. Thank to the staff member who recommended The Great Reclamation by Rachel Heng, Sorry i didn't get your name, next time I'm in Melbourne I well be be asking for more of your recommendations, it was really a good novel as promised.

Rachel Stevens: .

Kamutchart Boonsriprasert: This is a good book store.

Fran Camilleri: Calming atmosphere with cute seating areas. Well organized with various book editions available

Anuran De silva: Really impressed by the staff here didn't get their name. But they were able to find a very specific book that I have been looking for, for over a year.... Just by my vague description. Really knowledgeable and understanding too.

Jamie Willis: One of my fave inner city book stores. Good spots to sit and browse their books, also like the gifting knick-knacks they stock

Wynne Ma: A wonderful space to explore their range of books.

Nan Khim: I love the Readings bookstores in Melbourne and having read that they've opened a new store in the CBD a few years ago, it was one of the first places I visited when I came down recently. It's a beautiful store with an amazingly extensive selection of books. Being an avid reader and traveller, when I came across the travel section I was in travel book heaven and the dedicated books on Melbourne display was genius. If you need some respite from all the shopping and the busyness of the city then this bookstore is an ideal sanctuary to slow down and grab your favourite book/s!

Matthew Bund: I met the emperor of the emporium. He was quite nice, I wasn't sure if it was a facade so we didn't make it to second base.
