Life Skills & Adventures: what do users think?

Tom Nguyen: Hi there.I have been on these camps since they started 2022. I went on all the camps and I have enjoying it so much. I am a PE Teacher and I have been working with students from different backgrounds and abilities and characters. My strengths is in understanding students' different needs. I am also good at looking at details and cover their needs. My teaching philosophy is to help and support all my students to be able to be as much independent as possible. I love my job and I hope I can bring my skills and experience to the Life Skills & Adventure team.Thank you - Tom

Rachael Bonavia: Life Skills Adventure provide an excellent camp for children. The camp allows children to be active providing lots of different activities giving theman opportunity to explore and gain further knowledge in everyday life skills. As a carer, I was amazed with all the different activities these children got to explore and not to forgot to mention the accommodation was clean and all staff on board where extremely helpful and friendly. The food provided was beautiful and quality was excellent, children did not go hungry.Dave & Anna, you both are both amazing and go over and beyond in ensuring all children and staff are looked after, children's safety is a number one priority. Thank you both for doing what you do so well and giving a great opportunity for these children.

Sara C: This camp is packed with fun for the kids. They experience so many exciting and challenging activities, as well as opportunities to socially interact. The kids have a lot of choice and are encouraged to be independent while being provided with support and safe boundaries. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed attending as a staff member because of the beautiful kids that participate and the camaraderie of the amazing staff. My son also attended as a participant and loved the experience. Anna and David are overflowing with compassion and care for all and nothing is too much trouble to ensure every child has the best time possible.

Praveen Gulati: We had a really great experience with Life Skills and Adventure. David and Anna are beautiful person inside and out. Thanks for your support.Diksha Gulati.

Peg Lou: April 2023, I had the opportunity to attend the camp Mount Evelyn as a support team member. Personally, I was able to offer 20 years of experience as a mainstream and special education educator, I also have children. These are my observations and personal account of the camp. The participants entailed a dynamic and precious group of students ranging from early, middle, to later years. Each of the individual and beautiful students have a spectrum of special need such as behavioural, emotional, physical and or learning disabilities and or impairments. As a result, often the students required specialised support for everyday tasks ranging from help with communication, socialising, and self-care.The support team were employed to be caregivers to one or more students whilst encouraging self-growth, promoting choice making and enabling the students to explore new adventurous activities which had been organised for the camp. The staff encouraged independent living skills while fostering the students interests and abilities which often needed step by step help. Also, there were students who needed aid with augmentative communication. The camp was jam packed with exciting and life changing adventures in the most dynamic environments and stunning outdoor venues. Personally, I was fortunate to join the team to the camp at Mount Evelyn. The activities planned were extra exciting and I noticed the students were extremely overjoyed and this was a humbling experience for me. The activities catered for all the students however, if a student was struggling an alternative activity was available to cater for that student as comfortability and safety was priority. As a teacher I was satisfied that we were able to offer this to the students not coping as it is important for the students to enjoy the experience and have a safe environment. On an exciting note, I was most impressed with the students giving the high ropes and flying fox a go as this is challenging even for the most adventurous outdoor seeker.Personally ambitious I was able to explore the Tree Top activity as guide for one of our senior students of the group. This was life changing for both of us. Certainly, he will never forget this moment. The highlight of the camp was the chocolate decorating at Yarra Valley where every single participant was overjoyed at the experience. The students also had the opportunity to take home the chocolate they personally decorated. The joy on the students’ faces was priceless. The staff selected each had an array of professionalism and experience with children. Speech Pathologists, Teachers, Nurses, specially trained Teacher Assistants, Support Workers for people with disabilities where just a few of the amazing team I had the pleasure to work with.Other team members had amazing careers which provided life experience to help with the camp.I also recognised the management are professional and supportive and have the best intentions for each participant from the moment the camp begins to the final stage of parental pickup. Most impressive was the generosity and genuine care from David and Anna proved to all members of the camp.It was evident each of the students are individually recognized for their unique skills and abilities, they are appreciated, and catered for during the camp.It was obvious Anna and David took the time and committed into making the journey for the students a meaningful and joyous one. The carefully planned activities, meals and support staff made the camp a positive and meaningful experience for the students. It is unmistakable Anna has a good relationship with the team and parents and is committed to ensuring all the students participated equally and to the best of their independent abilities. As a parent who has had to send her own children to expensive school camps, I can honestly state this would have been the BEST Camp with the Best Team I have ever seen and encourage parents who have Special Needs Children to give their own child an opportunity to attend.

Ivan Vrahnas: Thank you to the Life Skills & Adventures Team for looking after Lucas and giving him one of the best experiences in his life. The team updated us daily and looked after Lucas like he was there own child. Lucas has enjoyed it so much, he is looking forward to more camps in the future. Thanks Ivan & Linda xoxo

William Farrugia: LSA camp is a gold standard of camps. The children are well looked after by professional teachers and caters who have extensive experience in the disability sector and who genuinely care for the children. The experiences are amazing, such as professional cooking lessons, scenic flights, Puffing Billy, giant swing, archery, silent disco and many more. If you are looking for the best camp in Australia you have found it. I can’t thank LSA enough for their professionalism and compassion. It ticks every box and it’s the best camp for your child.

Stacey Mifsud: Kids had an amazing time, really well supported and did amazing activities that they wouldn't otherwise have had the chance to access. Definitely recommend.

Deb Nicol: Absolutely fantastic camp. My son comes home raving about the awesome activities, has made life long friends and is gaining so much confidence. He asks when the next camp is on the way home from current camp. I have full and absolute trust in Anna and David and the fabulous carers. I will be forever grateful for their commitment to providing the kids with a happy and fun experience.

Ashley King: My wife and I have 2 Autistic children and they had their first camp with Life skills and adventures on the school holidays. Wow! What an amazing time they had!!!! We had a much needed break and felt very supported and knew our children were safe and well cared for. They cannot wait to attend their next camp with them. A big special shoutout to Anna, Melanie and Sandra. The one on one care and support for us and our children was so amazing! Thankyou all SO much. Love Ash and Sharna xo

Bettina B: I would honestly give LSAdventures a million stars if possible. Words could never truly express how amazing and supportive they are. My son attended their camp and he has done nothing but beg to go back! He has gained so much confidence and independence that it’s remarkable. His regular therapists are in absolute awe of the massive changes and growth he has achieved. I can’t thank LSA enough! It’s wonderful to have found a place where he can have all the fun and support so many children with additional needs miss out on. And seeing the giant smile on his face and just the mention of the word camp is enough to melt my heart. Thank you everyone at LSA 3
