Brunswick Secondhand Books: what do users think?

Stella Van Dartel: I LOVE THE OWNERS, THE STORE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! Best atmosphere, best selection of books. I recommended checking this place out 3

Daisy Kindersley Mckenzie: Wow. This place needs to be in the top bookshops of the world.I love the layout and selection. A must visit in Brunswick 💕

bhu vidya: Great range. Very fair prices.

Justin Louis Labelle: Solid selection in just about everything and as fair a price as you can expect from a used bookshop in a large city. The owner is a gentlemen and the whole space oozes a calm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. They also buy books at fair prices.

Finn Weatherstone: Lovely shop, bizarrely cheap books, all around great place to check out.

Joshua Hollard: Easily the best bookshop in Melbourne. Somehow always seem to have exactly the esoteric title you’re looking for.Particularly well stocked philosophy section.

Chang-bae Byun: Good books, good people.

evelyn m.: had a fair bit of wear and tear and priced over $10, for secondhand i think it's a bit rich.

reem: how lucky

Welcome Tattoo Melbourne: Worth spending some time looking through, can always dig up something I want.

Have a swing: Truly think this is the magnum opus of second hand book stores in Melbourne. Absolutely brilliant selection. Philosophy and psychology shelves were packed to the brim with some excellent books. Lovely.

Bryn Parry: Pretty cool book store with a decent amount of choices. The staff member was very helpful and friendly too

Michael Plazzer: What a charming little book store, a treasure

Vincent Beurskens: Very interesting place to visit. The building itself is a bit of a job to navigate, but its a hidden pearl of a shop. Quite niche, but an interesting and fun collection

KARIM Songlin: ❤️

Jack Clark: Burial playing, incense burning, cute little fireplace. Love that there are shops like this here. Came out with some incredible finds!

Daniel Wright: Delightful curated collection.

Moc Moc: Delighted to pick up a few books from the carefully curated stock within this unique building / simply laid out room. Travelling to Melbourne for a visit? Make sure to pick up your holiday read from here

Anjali R: Second hand bookshop. They don't have much collection. The staff was helpful

Thomas Vernon: This is one of the coolest used book stores we've been to. A tiny place tucked away in a beautiful old building with a very interesting selection of books. Would definitely recommend having a look!

James Millar: A fascinating little store, with a quality selection, but the main challenge is finding the place! Take lift to the 4th floor, turn right, follow the signs for a tattooist through a glass door and look for room 23. All a little surreal 😀.

Lathan: Fantastic science fiction collection and lovely staff.

Amelia: Goated

Mitchell: Asphalt is a genuinely delightful little store which hosts a wonderful collection of literary fiction and poetry. Well worth the visit if you’re in Melbourne and enjoy the works of authors like Austen, Dickens, Hemingway, or Hamsun. You can even ambush the staff at exactly 12 before they have the sign properly out if you’re so inclined. Five stars.

Atari Russia: A very nice bookshop with a very nice collection. Mostly nonfiction thought.

Michael Grbac: Great book store

Russell Ferguson: Unquie book store with interesting displays. Great range of topics.

diveteamzissou: a large selection of fiction hardcovers, many first editions, small press, reasonable poetry selection. Prices for a good hardcover ranged from 50 to 100. Fine press books were quite expensive, 500 to 1000 range. some gems here, including a small press signed T.S. Eliot. Pleasant helpful staff who were fine with me pulling out lots of fine press books to explore.

Peter Pohl-Sitzler: wonderful book store

Tara Roberts: Lovely book store. Excellent range of military history and also childrens’ fiction.

M C: This is such an amazing bookstore that you must visit when you have a chance! Feels like you are stepping into a museum when you are looking at books that are rare and old 📚. Lots of owls decorating throughout the store, and that itself is pretty cool too!

Moon shine: MAGIC!! I couldn't tell if I was in an ancient library or museum or Owl sanctuary! . This was remarkable and totally unexpectedly stumbled upon this shop. Its like going back in time to eras when I wasn't even born. The children's section was nothing but pure enchantment. I felt so transported into what felt like the rabbit hole of Alice in Wonderland.. old fans like mother goose nursery rhymes, noddy, winning the pooh all the original golden circle books plus magazines of Elvis, film books, beautiful bibles with leather covers and all the history books. I can't explain it. I wanted to stay for hours or buy the whole lot! Please go yo this hidden gem whether you are into books or not you may just come out of this time tunnel aa a different person.

Zander Cameron: There are lots of interesting and old books here. As you walk in, there is a cabinet filled with loads of 16 and 17th century books. Definitely worth looking at this store. Lots of history.

City Basement Books: what do users think?

jabakes78: Excellent bookshop with extensive range of fiction and non-fiction at incredibly low prices. Great place to browse your favourite authors. Returned to Melbourne after 15 years and this seems to be the last great secondhand bookshop still standing. New ones have sprung up but this place has the biggest stock and broadest range. Might have moved location to Flinders Street, but still the same yellow signs. Highly recommend.

Fahad: Such a unique hidden bookstore, definitely recommend stopping by

Chris Hazzard: I ordered a book from Basement Books through Abe because I am also in Melbourne, and I like to shop locally when I can. They were incredibly prompt and the book was professionally packed.I am delighted.

Kyle Schuant: Old school second-hand place, books piled haphazardly allowing for hours of unproductive exploration.

Peter: City basement books MelbourneI have walked pasted this place a number of times over the years. It was only that I looked up and saw the small sign that I went in, and I’m glad I did.Great place books from floor to ceiling and they have every category possible. The friendly staff member told me they get new stock twice a week, I’ll be calling in again every time I’m in Melbournefantastic second hand book storeI highly recommend

Trudie McCarthy: Good selection of old books and newer. Fun to explore. Art books are reasonably priced.

Jackson Castiglione: Incredibly knowledgeable and fastidious bookseller. His books are meticulously curated and a chat with Howard is always insightful. This is the place to visit during the apocalypse.

HamishF: A true gem. Howard’s books are always in excellent condition and there is always something there you realise you need.

sempa fi: Lots of books different subjectsGreat pricesFriendly staff

The Harrowing Hour: Fantastic.Several rooms dedicated to different genres, and the staff are always friendly, up for a chat and willing to help you find something. If you like books, come here.

Darren Sterling: Best secondhand bookstore around. Don’t waste time visiting op shops, the pricing is around 3-4$ for good quality modern titles with huge holdings of popular authors

Sir Mr Guitar Dude: A decent selection and super friendly staff/volunteers.

Redbird: Generously priced and a wide range of books. Book lovers' heaven🤓

Livy Divy: Cozy store with lots of books. Prices are really good and books are nice. Would recomend %100

Fiona Mayo: Fantastic selection, a must stop for a browse.

Marilyn Ong: So many books! You can wander in here for ages sitting through the shelves.

Amelia Tang: This second hand bookshop is setup in a house and has four rooms filled with books. It has a decent range of fantasy and sci fi books for the size of the shop. It has a whole room dedicated to fiction, half a room of non fiction, half a room of children’s books. A room of crime / thriller.Lots of books by popular and well known authors.Books are very fairly priced.Staff are friendly and welcoming and offer help to find things if you need it.Opening hours are somewhat limited on weekends, only being open on Saturday until 1 and not open Sunday but given the place is run by volunteers it makes sense. My current go to bookshop!Access is via the service rd and there are a few street car parks out front.A few small steps to access front door so wouldn’t be accessible to those requiring a ramp. I would also say not pram friendly due to the number of books they stock, I think it would be a bit tricky to manoeuvre a pram through.Accepts both card and cash payments.

Meeghan Bell: Love. ❤ A gorgeous bookshop with loads of treasures at great prices and lovely staff. Highly recommend.
