City Adult Ballet: what do users think?

Rebecca Fursman: Jane has an extraordinary ability to craft classes to suit all abilities. She changes up the style and the music often to keep it interesting and engaging. She shows personal interest in each student and fosters a warm friendly environment amongst us students. Love my classes at City Adult Ballet and highly recommend it to anybody looking for classes

Brooke Bird: I highly recommend City Adult Ballet for anyone wanting to practice this beautiful art form in a safe and supportive environment! Jane is an incredible teacher, she has her own way of getting you to understand the steps, while still focusing on artistry. I always leave Jane’s classes feeling amazing and I can’t wait to go back.

Julia Cernaz: I came to city adult ballet a year ago and it has become the most treasured part of my week. Jane has created an inclusive, engaging and warm environment for all levels. Professional studio, diverse music in great location. Jane is an exceptional teacher who encourages, extends and challenges us all in a supportive manner and she treats her students with respect and injects humour into the class. Would encourage anyone to come and join us.

Cara Greenham Hancock: Jane’s ballet classes are an absolute delight. They are truly a highlight of each week, a space in which we are not just taught, but challenged and nurtured. Jane is extremely supportive and warm, at the same time as teaching to an excellent standard. I’m particularly impressed at the way she can teach a group of both beginner dancers and advanced together. It benefits us as more novice dancers to have the model of the experienced dancers in the shared part of the class, and then we also get the pleasure of watching them rehearse their repertoire at the end! Jane has created a wonderful atmosphere of supportive and welcoming community, where genuine warmth and mutual respect are as intrinsic to the class experience as the classwork. She communicates through how she treats us that she believes in us as dancers, which then draws from us a higher level of technique and musicality.I love these classes and cannot recommend them highly enough: I never leave without feeling that the world has become a more beautiful place for having spent this time in the beauty of ballet and this group, led by such a dedicated and caring teacher. Thank you, Jane.

Sade Brown: Coming from years of ballet and tertiary level dance training, it has been wonderful to find classes that have a balance of being serious/challenging and relaxing/fun. Jane has an understanding of each dancers goals and will be there to support and push you to achieve them. Even achieving things you didn’t think you could! It amazes me every week how Jane is able to create an environment for dancers who are either in the peak of their dance career, auditioning, finding dance as a hobby or returning after many years. The open intermediate class is suitable for all intermediate level dancers no matter what your purpose for attending class is because the one thing we all have in common is a love for dance.

Erin Chen: My favourite place to go!!! Thank you Jane for creating such a lovely place and constantly looking after everyone❤️I enjoy every minute in your classes from the very first time, can’t wait to be back after Easter! ❤️❤️❤️

Jodie Wassner: I have sampled adult ballet classes all over the world and cannot believe my luck that my absolute favourite is right here in Melbourne. Jane is welcoming, encouraging and so much fun. She helps dancers think beyond the steps and motivates us to be playful and expressive in our execution of the steps. This is most fun when she provides a taste of repertoire! In the few months I've been coming to class, it has quickly become my favourite part of the week.

Jp Kg: Jane, the founder of City Adult Ballet is a very kind and inspiring teacher with artistry ,musicality and humour. There must be many adults who want to start learning ballet but still deciding to step forward. I was one of them because ballet is for young people or adults who has the experience already. But my anticipation was wrong, she and class environment are very welcoming so now I can say that I have strong passion for dance. I am sure you can nurture your passion to express yourself through this class regardless of your dance experience. Never too old, just give it a try!

Rika: Everyone is so lovely here. Jane makes you feel comfortable in class and it’s great fun no matter how much of a beginner you are.

Stephanie L: If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. It isn't often you find a ballet school for adults, let alone have it be amazing. Jane Casson is a phenomenal teacher who really cares about her students. She makes class fun and exciting and brings out a spark in all the adult students. She caters for all levels of dance and really knows how to make a warm and welcoming environment.I started at City Adult Ballet as an absolute beginner, and I've been attending for almost two years and I won't be stopping any time soon. Highly recommend this school, for anyone who wants to learn from scratch or simply want to reignite their spark for ballet.

Naomi Swan: The first time I came to City Adult Ballet, I was so nervous. I haven't taken any ballet classes since I was 13, I was then 38! I also don't have the body I had when I was 13! Who does? Jane was so warm and welcoming, she made me feel immediately comfortable!Jane has been very encouraging of me. I went to a few classes and then I dropped off for a while, due to some personal reasons. Jane's customer service is amazing. She called to check in on me to make sure I was OK! My gym I had attended for years never called to check in on me! It really showed that Jane cares beyond the ballet class.During lockdown zooming in with Jane and dancing in my tiny living room really was a highlight of Melbourne's long lockdown in 2020! Jane is so passionate about Ballet, she is entertaining, fun, and we get a great workout. Thanks Jane for all that you do for the City Adult Ballet family

Mark Wong: Always a joyful experience being in Jane's class.

George Weir: Jane is an absolute treasure of a teacher; her classes at City Adult Ballet are a true hidden gem of Melbourne. I'm a professionally trained ballet dancer and found it very daunting going back to class after having a few years away from ballet. Jane's beautifully vibrant personality, coupled with her technical teaching style, challenged me and made me feel like I was home again. In 2020 ballet class went from the studio to at home in our loungerooms via Zoom. Jane's online zoom classes are some of the best I have ever done. I was back week after week and loved every moment of it. So much so, it motivated me to get back into weekly studio classes. Which I am loving! If you want to experience the magic of ballet whilst learning how to become the most technically proficient dancer you can be. A City Adult Ballet class is where you need to be.

Giovina Rocconi: their ballet journey!

Stef T: Jane's classes have taken my love of ballet to a whole new level. She knows how to give fun exercises that are challenging but still within your reach, and gives corrections in a warm, encouraging way. She's got plenty of performance experience under her belt, having previously danced with The Australian Ballet, so you can learn so much about performing and artistry from her generous tips. I've also done a couple of classes with the guest teachers and they were amazing as well. Highly recommended!

Liv Day: Dancing as an adult with Jane Casson is a truly valuable experience. Ballet has always been a part of my life, but it can be daunting starting it again as an adult. Jane encourages you to dance to your true ability, in your unique body. She will push you and make you believe you can improve, with only love and true caring support. Jane has the extensive professional experience which is so special, while still having a distinctive ability to connect with her dancers and lead a fun, sweaty, enriching class. Jane Casson is a true star as a teacher and she makes you believe you are a star too. I could not recommend her classes highly enough!

X Y Ooi: Genuinely enjoyable ballet classes! The first class is to try remember the dance moves but this gets better after. I love the friendly environment and a great teacher, Jane Casson.

Shaye Enright: City Adult Ballet renewed my love for dance!During lockdown I was searching for online dance classes when I came across this studio. I had no idea how a ballet class could be run online but was immediately blown away by the professionalism and set up provided. The online classes are structured in a way that still provides detailed teaching and correction no matter if you have a tiny apartment or massive studio to practice in.Along with weekly lessons, the studio also invites guest teachers ranging from Australian Ballet Soloists to Ballet Masters which gives beginners an incredible opportunity and insight to learn from. Opportunities that usually would only be available to company/pro dancers.I have to mention Principal Jane in my review. Her style of teaching just brings joy. The combination of her humor with her amazing skill and eye for detail makes you want to come back to class every week. Jane is accommodating to everyone no matter the skill level while still teaching a professional class.I highly recommend City Adult Ballet to anyone who wants to start learning or wants to renew their passion for dance. This is the place to be!

Helen: I have been taking ballet classes for more than ten years and City Adult Ballet has been the most inclusive, welcoming & inspiring environment to dance in! Jane is fantastic at accomodating for beginners & advanced alike, and is wonderful at teaching all elements of dance - not just technical but also artistry and performance skills. Bonus is her selection of funky tunes, which if you are lucky might include piano renditions of 70s and pop hits! It is always a joy to go to class, whether it's online or in person. I can't recommend it enough!

Danni 1608: is particularly good at choreographing for small places.Jane is one of the most giving people I've ever met. Her warmth and genuine interest in people have created a very warm community filled with love of dance and music.Make no mistake - she's strict in the best possible way

Elancé Adult Ballet School: what do users think?

Martine Sholl: It is nearly 10 years since I first walked through the doors at Elancé and I feel very fortunate to have found this ballet school which helped me rediscover my love of ballet after a number of years away from it. I have been lucky enough to experience classes with all of the wonderfully talented teachers who all care deeply about their students, evidenced through the warm greeting every time I walk through the doors, the meticulously planned classes and the individual feedback throughout classes. The community within Elancé is a credit to Di, Kate, all of the lovely teachers and the friendly students.

Clare Groves: . The teachers are so talented in how they convey technique and put insane amounts of effort into curating and choreographing each class. I thank my lucky stars that I had the courage to go to that first class; only to find my happy place.

Isabel Fernandez: of these incredibly talented and gifted teachers. My greatest thanks Elance!

Grace Liu: I have been with Elance since 2016. It is a fantastic and supportive school for adults who have zero experience in ballet .Elance has a well planned teaching structure that ensures a novice can learn ballet in a safe and progressive way. As adults, we are not as flexible and physically capable compared to children but the school ensures we learn the steps without injuring ourselves . The teacher also make sure we get the basic technique correct before moving on so we are not overwhelmed by the complex choreography . We always get constructive feedbacks on our progress . I never take them as criticism as they have my best interest in heart. The studio is bright , clean and spacious . I love how there are mirrors only on one side of the room as I can get quite self conscious looking at myself in the mirror .All the teachers are different but they are all fantastic and fun . They inspire me to improve and push harder. Under their teaching, you just wish the classes never end …Elance is not your ordinary ballet school. It is an adult ballet sanctuary.

Christine Westley: . As well as supporting our learning they also support students to manage their bodies - particularly older students like myself, whether managing an injury, or a more permanent condition. Finally, from the first conversation with Dianne before starting I felt engaged as a person, not just someone who turns up and this was confirmed by the support from my teachers and Dianne when undergoing major changes in my life. Am only sorry I didn't start earlier.

Anthula Ralph: I can only say I’ve been so so lucky to have found Elancé Ballet School. I have attended other ballet schools but Elancé is the only one that is tailor made for adults wishing to pursue their dream of dancing classical ballet in a non professional setting. Kate especially has been so kind and extraordinary in her patience, grace and professionalism. It is a privilege to have her for a teacher. With thanks always Anthula

Eric Chin: . Other dance schools I went to typically have beginner, intermediate and advance levels and I was allowed to progress without much review. As a result I do not have strong foundation of the basics and I wish I had such structured training offered by Elancé when I first started. The teachers are absolutely dedicated to our safety and wellbeing while pushing us to grow to our best ability. The focus on proper techniques is always emphasised to ensure that risks of injury are minimised.Fellow students are friendly and supportive and willing to share anything from tips about where to get the best quality dance garments to just sharing a laugh.I've joined Elancé during cycles of the Covid lockdowns and it's been a life-line to my mental and physical wellbeing ever since. Will give 6 stars if I could!

Sue Ortiz: , I wish I had been shown or told that years ago! The facilities at Elance are also second to none, I feel very spoilt.Thank you to ALL of the beautiful teachers at Elance, thank goodness I found you when I did, you restored my faith and love for this wonderful art form. There really is no other adult school like it.Sue :

Gabrielle Goldsworthy: I can not be more excited to be back in the studio for term 1 and continuing my ballet journey with Elancè. From day 1 all the teachers and community have been nothing but supportive, encouraging and kind. I have found a confidence in myself i never had before and gained a whole new of friends. You will not regret joining this wonderful community

Jason C: .Kate is an amazing teacher who truly cares about her students and their success. Despite her busy schedule, she always makes time to provide personalized attention and create a safe and supportive learning environment.Kate's attentiveness and encouragement were instrumental in my recovery. Her gentle guidance and support helped me regain my confidence and rebuild my dance skills despite surgeons telling me I wouldn't be able to dance again. Her deep understanding of ballet technique has also helped me to improve my form and avoid further injuries. I am very grateful for her.Overall, I highly recommend Elancé Ballet School to anyone looking for high-quality instruction and a supportive community. The course structure is well paced and intentional and never feels forced or rushed. Kate, Pip and the rest of the teachers are a blessing and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from them.

Tony Cheng: I recently completed three terms at Elance Adult Ballet School, and it was an exceptional experience that deserves a five-star rating! The highlight of my time at the school was undoubtedly the incredible teacher, Kate.Kate is not just a fantastic ballet instructor, but she possesses a unique blend of firmness, warmth, and care that creates a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Her expertise in ballet is evident, and her teaching style strikes the perfect balance between discipline and compassion.Ballet, being a highly demanding discipline, requires precision in every movement—from the way you stand to how you hold the bar and execute turns. Kate's guidance and attention to detail made this challenging aspect of ballet not only manageable but also a rewarding part of the overall experience.Throughout the terms, I had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of ballet, discovering more about my body and its capabilities. The journey was both enlightening and enjoyable, thanks to the well-structured classes and Kate's unwavering commitment to her students' growth. In conclusion, my time at Elance Adult Ballet School was transformative, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comprehensive and enriching ballet education. If you're looking to not only learn the art of ballet but also understand your own body and its capacity, this is the place to be.Thank you, Elance Adult Ballet School and Kate, for an unforgettable dance journey!Tony Cheng

Diane Collis: Elance Ballet is a wonderful studio that brings so much joy , fitness, community and connection to the students. I recommend this studio to any adult interested in ballet.

S.: can learn ballet in a systematic and safe manner. I’m always inspired when I attend classes. The grace of ballet requires effort but the joyful class atmosphere makes it enjoyable and satisfying! I’ve been in classes with students ranging from their early 20s to 70s across both Flemington and Mitcham studios. Everyone is being taken good care of. The teachers give thoughtful corrections and suggestions to help individual students do what their bodies can. I appreciate being taught correct techniques and given guidance to develop artistry. I started attending classes here since 2018 after an injury. My body has gotten stronger over the years of doing classes here. This has been my only exercise

Nadia Boyce: A rare gem.I have danced at this school for almost 10 years after starting as a beginner – it’s the best I’ve come across for adult dancers in Melbourne in terms of both the quality of teaching and facilities. The key things that stand out for me have been: The teachers are highly engaged and care for their studentsI’ve had 5-6 different teachers in my time at this school, starting with Kate. She made me feel so welcome and comfortable with her kindness and patience when I was a nervous beginner! Most importantly, the teachers here clearly live and breathe teaching adults, and understand what learning ballet as an adult is actually like. I never felt like a number – your teacher will take the time to know your name and will support what you want to get out of dance. At some schools you’ll see ‘side hustle’ teachers who are very casual or inconsistent, and it has been very refreshing at Elance to have stable and regular teachers who really know you. They know how to work with adults and adult bodiesThis school’s experience with adults really shines through – it’s not a place where adults are just an add-on as an extra revenue stream, they have really invested in the art of teaching ballet to adults over time through a structured program that makes it more accessible for older bodies.I have appreciated that they take the time to teach proper technique – the last thing I wanted was a studio where I was treated like I was just there to prance around like a ‘pretend’ ballerina. It was important to me to feel like I could improve and have the sense of achievement that comes with that. The teachers here respect their students, their desire to learn and take them seriously. As a result, you’ll see students from all different backgrounds – some returning to dance after many years of childhood training, some complete beginners. Some do classes recreationally once a week, through to others doing 5 or more classes per week. I’ve found that all approaches are respected and accommodated, and the size of the school and higher number of class options means you can dance with others a similar level to yourself. This has made me feel like regardless of how busy adult life gets, I can be flexible with when I make it to class. It’s a great communityI’ve found the Elance community to be friendly, supportive and inclusive whether you’re a beginner or returning as an adult. Before I started I found the ballet world intimidating, but I’ve seen a really diverse range of people here - you don’t have to fit into any stereotypes or categories, and it’s nice when it’s enough to just want to dance and share the joy of ballet. I also like that you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Ash: . I was looking to get back into dance and ballet was my first pick, but all the classes I found were often very casual and didn’t care so much about technique, or were too high level for me. That is until I found Elance!Elance has the perfect balance of teaching and working on technique properly, whilst adjusting and working with the different abilities of adult bodies of all ages, experiences and capacities. All the classes are very inclusive and the teachers do a wonderful job working with individual needs whilst teaching and supporting everyone’s ballet journey! The term based structure helps build a connection with the teacher and class you’re in which is great for being able to progress and improve. I’ve also done a class with all the different teachers at least a couple times and always appreciate that they check in with us, adapt to our needs and bring their own unique flares and styles to the classes. I really love the little communities we build in each class with the support of each other.Being a student at Elance has been a really lovely way to re-experience ballet and dance, challenge myself in a safe space, build strength and mobility for day-day living and feel like I have time to play and be creative

Asumi D: sharing our passion for ballet! If you are looking for a professional, well established adult ballet school with a friendly student community, then Elance is for you! Happy dancing!

Renee Backman: Elance is more than a ballet school, it is a community. The studio is a beautiful space in which to step out of your comfort zone and push your technique, coordination, musicality and grace with supportive teachers, and plenty of humour. Whether you are a returnee to ballet, completely new, or somewhere in between, there is an Elance class to suit wherever you're at on your ballet journey.

Daniele Guimarães: There is so much I love about Elancé School. Beyond the amazingly capable and lovely teachers, it's a place to feel respected, encouraged. You will be pushed to do your best while you're having an incredible time of joy and fun dancing and learning ballet

Dance Factory: what do users think?

Stephanie Marzano: Very experienced teachers with a high emphasis on dance technique, safe dance, artistry, and giving students of all standards regular opportunities to perform

Kit Kat Katies: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe receptionist is very kind and she gives me lots of alternatives of how to achieve my dance goals even though it's not on my list to start a dance school and she gives lots of information! I'm very happy that I don't need a qualification for choreographing! Yey! 😂😀 .

Maddy Bunny: , I was able to see myself make huge progress with techniques and basics in jazz and ballet, as I came with no dance background at all.

Kathy Kreskas: fantastic l loved it so much amazing teachers.

Alice Catherine: and definitely haven't felt ignored/neglected by staff. Everyone has been really inclusive and welcoming so far.The teachers are experienced and approachable, happy to answer questions and are able to balance the constructive feedback needed to improve with sufficient encouragement to motivate the student. If you are enthusiastic and willing to work hard, they will support you.

Miriam Dennington: I really enjoy taking classes here, the teachers are lovely and experienced and really want their students to improve and thrive.I take day classes as well as evening classes and can recommend both.

Lin Lou: Great adult class - staff, teacher, atmosphere, accessibility and pricing.

SpaceWalkTraveller: I've been doing Jazz as an adult at Dance Factory for 7 years. I have found all the teacher to be great and very helpful. Personally I think dance is a great way to stay fit and it's also good for your mind body coordination. I highly recommend the Dance Factory to anyone who wants to learn how to dance and have fun.

Cate Metzeling: We are very happy with this family owned and run business. The teachers are highly experienced, skilled and supportive and the facilities are very nice. A good variety of performance venues and types keep it interesting for students and their families. A great place to do VET or VCE Dance.

Gen Dohrmann: Great place to come to experience professional dance classes in Melbourne. Have been loving attending the intermediate jazz class casually to get back into the technical dance training that I experienced when I was younger. Also a great place to hire as an affordable dance studio for dance classes, gigs and rehearsals.

Melbourne Dance Centre: what do users think?

Taryn Baxter: Very clean and tidy

Elizabeth Sterry: Always have great ballet teachers here.

Emil Lazarescu: Nice place and warming people !!!👍😁💯

Owain Emslie: MDC teach dance technique exceedingly well. They create productions that extend and develop the performers, and are exciting to watch. The teachers are supportive, encouraging and invoke a love of dancing in the students. What’s really amazing, though, is that MDC create a community: the students adore each other, and the older students give the young ones support, encouragement, wisdom, and something to aspire to. I highly recommend Melbourne Dance Centre.

Melissa Cameron: MDC is a fantastic dance centre. From the beginning I was impressed with their ability to get the best out of each student. They are enthusiastic, inclusive and teach a high standard of dance with an emphasis on performance. By example they encourage the dancers to be their best selves and foster a sense of friendship and belonging. My daughter has now been attending for two years and it was the best move we made. Highly recommend.

Stephanie Keays: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Sarah m: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueCan't recommend MDC highly enough! An amazing dance space with classes that are interesting, fun and inclusive. Incredibly friendly and professional staff that create an atmosphere where every student - regardless of their age, ability or gender - is made to feel like an important part of this dance community.

David Crook: This is an amazing dance studio where the kids can thrive and learn about dance and how to perform. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a skilled dancer -everyone will learn and grow under the directors and teachers at this school. Our daughter has danced here for 5 years and we couldn't be more pleased. If your kids love to dance - this is the place to go to!

Roz-Anne Sympatheticflower: Absolutely brilliant school, my child is thriving here feeling welcomed. She has acquired great skills, and friends.

The Space Dance & Arts Centre: what do users think?

Mageda Charrouf: Very open and welcoming Vibe for dancers of all ages. The instructors really take the time to teach you. The energy is just amazing.

Anne Winter: There is something truly special about this dance school and the way that they teach and engage young children. The energy and magic in the room is electric and infectious and I’ve truly never seen my children happier than after a full day of dancing in the school holiday program.

Debs M: The commercial dance teacher is talented & friendly. She makes the choreography look amazing, which is inspiring & fun to learn. 🤗

sanket patel: Place is good and in hudson house and also there is free 2p parking in chapel in chapel which is best. But for Vsss audition, they wrote in email come before 15mins ago for ur audition time. But they just start briefing on audition time. It's just not professional. You have to start on time. Overall good.

Benjamin Curé: I've danced here for years and love the community in this place. Loads of classes to choose from and some really brilliant teachers. It's also home to my favourite rehearsal space!I’ve hired the Sky Deck for performances, filming video clips and holding workshops. It’s such a versatile space and they’ve made so many continuous improvements over the years to where it’s just super easy for me to walk in, set the room up for what I’m trying to achieve and then pack down without any hassle or restrictions.Whether you need a huge room for a function or workshop or an intimate rehearsal space for a private lesson, they’ve got so many studios to suit everyone’s needs.Oh and the owners are massive supporters of dance and have helped so many businesses and creators with new ideas and events so don’t be afraid to reach out to the studio if you’re wanting to start something and aren’t sure where to begin!

Rania Mokdad: Space Dance is an amazing studio with lovely and kind staff, it’s very safe and they’ve got a variety of activities, the shows are fantastic, my daughter does musical theatre and hip-hop and she loves it, specifically musical theatre! And many thanks to her teacher Philip Humphrey for being such an awesome teacher my daughter and all the other students love him!

Harper Banks: Absolutely love the classes here in such beautiful studios. Always super helpful reception staff, such a great environment ❤️

Angela Ling: Undoubtedly the best Dance Centre I've attended! Not only are there so many different classes & styles on offer, they range from beginner to intermediate and no class is ever the same. The teachers, staff & community feel at The Space is so warm & welcoming and, although I'm not from Melbourne, has made me feel right at home; it's something I look forward to each and every week. Thanks team!! x

Mark Nussy: Great place to learn dance, have an event, or just get some exercise!

Vicki: Both my kids have been attending ‘The Space’ for a number of years doing weekly dance/musical theatre/acting classes and their amazing holiday programs. They look forward to their classes every week. It has become a place where they have the opportunity to nurture and develop their dancing/singing/acting skills whilst making friends and having fun. The highlight of the week for my kids is the musical theatre class on a Saturday morning which has allowed both my kids to grow in confidence and have memorable performance opportunities. They have always felt well-supported by all their teachers who have demonstrated high level of care, experience and the ability to cater for everyone. We feel very fortunate to be a part of ‘The Space’ family- it is such a nurturing, warm and friendly environment whilst also having the right balance of professionalism and fun.

Jaimee White: Such a positive and uplifting environment. Love coming weekly to intermediate classes to give myself a good challenge or just a beginner class to have fun with friends

Trang Nguyen: Great classes. Great tunes. The rest room is not in good shape. I would expect a cleaner bathroom in places like this. I even couldn't get change after work...

Sophie Elliott: My daughter is loving her dance lessons at The Space and there is a great vibe about the place.

It was overwhelming to see our girls dancing with such joy and enthusiasm and to see the same devotion in all of the students on stage. Helena Dunn: Classes at the Melbourne Institute of Dance are such a wonderful experience for adults. Not only the ambience of the studio setting with the beautiful music chosen for the classes, but also Kalman and the team of talented and patient professionals. Being a member of the class is so stimulating and such fun but it is also a personal journey - a chance to challenge oneself without feeling the need to be a 'star' or perfect.

Robert Fearon: If you love to dance, you will love Melbourne Institute of Dance. It’s a fantastic school for all ages with amazing teachers, especially Kalman Warhaft who is so talented, nurturing and fun. MIOD will bring joy to your heart - I can’t recommend it enough.

Rhonda Keene: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityKalman and his teaching team are very experienced ballet teachers and the classes are always lots of fun

I was not sure how I would go when I started. I really look forward to each lesson. It's a wonderful dance institute to learn at.

Tania Prentice: Whether you had had ballet lessons previously or not, the adults basic ballet classes at the Melbourne Institute of Dance are a joy to attend. Our very talented, patient, teacher Kalman teaches us to immerse ourselves in the magic of music, movement and emotion at an individual pace. Under his expert guidance we learn the basic steps of ballet and gradually build up our strength and fitness. Our technique improves as does our confidence. This coupled with meeting wonderful new people from all walks of life who all have a mutual love of music and ballet, make these classes definitely a 5 star recipe.Thank you Kalman. Your classes for those of us who may not be so young in years have brought a magical and joyous addition to our lives.

Coral Ware: while we work to our own individual level. Kalman Warhaft is a patient and kind teacher and he makes every class fun while encouraging us to do our best.

Michelle Stanic: The Melbourne Institute of Dance is a warm and welcoming establishment where every student is known, supported, and valued.Kalman is an outstanding artist, dancer and teacher. He has high standards and encourages all students to work to capacity, at the same time understanding the physical limitations of those new to the art. Kalman provides positive feedback and demonstrates genuine interest in each of his students. In addition, the atmosphere is inviting and the students support one another with friendship and a shared passion. I am enjoying the classes more than I thought possible!

Nicole Vignaroli: you will love it at MIOD - I do!

Elisabeth Lane: I cannot commend the MIoD team highly enough, since joining in 2017 I have found a place that is so much more than just a ballet school, the level of inclusiveness to see me for my whole identity as a woman with my trans experience has allowed me to be more free and more expressive in my dance. From the tailored curriculum to the mental support which has seen the development of my skills, challenging myself and being apart of something that is more than my identity, it is part of my ballet family.

Elena Osalde: Kalman is one of the best contemporary dance teachers in Australia. The classes are full of interesting choreography that challenge your spatial awareness and technique without stressing you out. The music choices are beautiful as well. The sessions are just delightful.Dancers attending all the classes across Ballet and Contemporary are kind and friendly. MIoD is a fantastic studio where you feel safe and nurtured by a friendly community.

Accounts Administrator: Kalman is my all-time favourite dance teacher - I wish I had him as a teacher when I was a teenager then maybe I wouldn't have quit ballet at that age. His classes are interesting & challenging but do-able. He has fun with his adult students and the vibe is always great in class. I also like his non-standard choice of music for class. I feel inspired in his classes to actually try harder than I would with other teachers, I can't pinpoint why but just trust me!

Danni 1608: . On the other hand, if you’re there for fun, or just want to dance, there’s plenty of room for that – Kalman often opens with ‘this is your class, not mine’ – you can take it as it suits you.Kalman’s commitment to regular live zoom classes during the pandemic has been incredible – these classes provide an outlet
