4worldlovers: Founded in 2005, MLD is one of Melbourne’s longest running, most established and most experienced Latin dance schools in Melbourne. The founding director Liz was a pioneer of both LA Salsa and Bachata in Melbourne.

At MLD, we’re all about teaching our students the correct technique from the start with lots of attention to detail. It’s our thing. But beyond being meticulous about teaching our students well, above all, MLD is a super friendly and fun place to learn Latin dance in Melbourne! Among all the dance schools I have been to, MLD has far been the best. I have tried a few and if your a Novice and you have set yourself for some real dancing skills, this place is where it's at. Liz and her dance teachers are always on point in lending you the best skills and individual critique.


The best LA Salsa school in Melbourne! I give full credit to MLD for bringing technique to my dancing, which looking back to a year ago was absolutely terrible! There is a strong focus on technical work here and provides a lovely environment to learn in across multiple levels. I attended Melbourne Latin dance as many others do, solo. Taking dance classes at MLD has done many things for me: I've made some great friends, its increased my confidence massively in social situations where I need to bust some moves, its greatly improved my life. It creates a community that you regularly see and become part of your life. I love the structured 8 week programs which mean that you are progressing each week and can see real results. Liz and James run a great studio, I can't thank them enough for running such a great class and being so in love with their work and MLD family.

Love coming to classes here. Such a great and welcoming environment. Classes are taught perfectly depending on your skill level and everyone is really friendly and accepting. Doing classes on Monday nights has made it one of my favourite days of the week. Definitely recommend!

I am good at a lot of things, most things actually, but the language of dance has never been in my vocabulary. I was tricked into attending my first salsa class at MLD – my girlfriend told me we were going out for meatballs. Once I was trapped inside the studio, I managed to fumble my way through the warm up exercises with all of the ligaments in my hip still intact. And then something clicked (metaphorically). I can only describe the experience as a transformative self-awakening of the artistic sort. That was six months ago, and I’m here today with a message. To all of the 6’3’’ bearded construction workers out there who want to buy unisex dance shoes – the "M" in MLD stands for MEN. You are not alone.

Liz and James are amazing teachers. The classes are super fun, full of laughs and a great way to meet new people.

I can't overstate how much I'm loving learning and dancing at MBassy. Minx, Steve, and Di are amazing, passionate instructors who positively radiate love for salsa and teaching! I had a great pleasure to attend the dancing classes at the MBassy Dance run by Minx in its Opening Day!! I've been submerged into mesmerising and magical atmosphere as soon as I've opened the studio's door. The enormous amount of passion and energy radiated from the instructors, coupled with the rhythmical sounds of Latin music, creates a truly vibrant atmosphere which makes you want to start dancing ASAP!!! While being extremely professional and dedicated, the instructors are exceptionally friendly and the smile never leaves their faces (especially Minx's and Steve's) throughout the entire session, which makes the learning experience such a great FUN!! The two dance studios are well spaced and equipped with mirrors from all the sides, which I found extremely convenient when learning new moves. In conclusion: The MBassy Dance studio provides an unparalleled experience combing a fun, warm and supporting way to get into the Dancing and to keep continuously improving. I will strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking to take their/her/his dancing skills to the new levels!!
