Céramiques studios are wheel-based ceramic workshops, dedicated to providing a tranquil, free-flowing space to cultivate creativity and relaxation. Spaces for you to explore pottery, develop your wheel work skills, and discover the thrill of turning a chunk of clay into a delicate and beautiful piece.

For us, pottery isn’t just about churning out a mug and saucer (although they’re lovely), its about a love and passion for assisting you with the process of exploring and expressing your creativity. The piece you get to take home with you is the tangible result, but the experience you have in our studio is our number one priority.

4worldlovers: We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of the land Naarm / Melbourne, on which The Wheelhouse is located. We acknowledge their importance in our nation’s history and future and pay respect to their elders past and present.

The Wheelhouse is a creative ceramic studio that specialises in developing the skill levels of all our students, from beginners to the more advanced, whilst nurturing their ceramics passion.

Our highly qualified teachers lead small classes of up to ten, over four or eight week terms, in both Hand-building and Wheel. Two hour Term Taster classes are also offered as well as private groups on request.

We have created a studio space for our students that is safe, calm, inclusive and supportive - essential to the learning process.

The Carlton Arts Centre offers classes for beginners, intermediate or advanced students in the use of the potter’s wheel (wheel throwing), one of the oldest art forms.

Learn how to make wheel or hand built ceramics in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Hand building clay classes are also available. Learn to use clay shaped by hand, or in slab or extruded form to create functional, free form and sculptural pieces.

Underglaze decoration, raku and sculpture workshops are conducted for interested students.
